#9 Galehead (4,024 ft.)

Just as we reached Galehead Hut off the Twinway it started to rain, and fog snuck up the valley. Clem and I threw on rain gear and mucked our way up Galehead itself, which doesn't take very long at all. But because it was raining so hard I didn't get any photos of the summit. So instead I post this video of our walk into Galehead fresh off the rigors of the Twinway. Forgive my breathless enthusiasm: I was tired.

Dolley Shot: Galehead Hut

June 2015

Our second stay at Galehead was even more enjoyable than the first: only eleven people, and not a drop of rain in sight. I remember in particular one gentleman (Marshall), who had just taken a job with a WW2 museum outside Boston; he was hiking with his 8-year-old daughter, and they played Monopoly almost until lights out. Then there was Chris, professional etcher and divorced dad. I listened to what he said, whether I wanted to or not. A vision of the future?
